2016 Update & Announcement

It feels like forever since I've visited this little corner of the internet, but I'm back for the first time in 2016 to share a little life update and a big announcement at the end!

Chris and I brought in the New Year with our friends Morgan, Paige, Kane, & Brett at Brett's parents house on the lake.
We had such a good night full of laughter, great food, fireworks, and re-telling old stories.

We got to spend some time with Dexter and Lola this Winter/Spring and have had a blast letting them ride Willow and Wrangler, having Lola make good friends with Velvet, and teaching Dexter to work on my truck.

Chris and I got the opportunity to represent Clay County at the Alabama Young Farmer's Conference in February competing in the Outstanding Young Farm Family division.
Although we didn't win this year, we had so much fun competing and meeting other young farmers from around the state.

We've spent several Sunday afternoons checking our calves, they're growing like crazy!

This past weekend we went to the SLE Rodeo in Birmingham.
Chris and I have been every year since we started dating back in 2013 and I love the tradition, it's always a fun night.

And now for my big announcement. . .

I have my own classroom!

Well, let me explain ;)

I have been completing my Student Teaching at Central High School under the direction of my high school history teacher & mentor, Mr. Will Haynes.

Coming to the end (it officially ends on April14th), there was a military leave happening over in the junior high building and they needed a Geography teacher.

I jumped at the opportunity and I am currently teaching 6 classes of seventh graders geography at Central Junior High School of Clay County and loving every minute of it.

Mrs. Dianne Stewart is currently mentoring me while I complete my internship, but after April 14th, I will be on my own until the end of the year.

I'm so thankful for this opportunity and have been supported in every way by everyone at CJHS and my family/friends.

Next step...graduation: coming up on April 29, 2016!

Life Lately: October 2015

Time has absolutely flown by these past few months since Christopher and I have been married.

I'm almost finished with my Senior Practicum semester of school (which means, God willing, I'll graduate on April 29, 2016!) and Chris has been staying busy on both ours and my dad's farms, as well as with calving season and C&J Farm (the trucking company he owns with my dad).

We've been having lots of long days & some long nights, but I keep reminding myself that it will all be worth it in the end. :)

Here are a few photos from what we've been up to lately!

We've had lots of friends get married in the month of October (every weekend except the last was spent at a wedding!)
This is from Misty & Jacob Porter's wedding, it was absolutely gorgeous-but I forgot to have a picture made until after dark so this one does it no justice!

On the second weekend in October, our sweet friends Chase & Mary Beth Miller got married.
We enjoyed getting to see some old friends at their reception & loved seeing the view at Oliver's Cove (formerly Patriot Riding Stables)

The third weekend of October, my sweet friend & college roomie Hannah Brown got hitched!
Her wedding was in Woodland (& I got to see our mutual friend who introduced us, Jasie!)
It was a sweet wedding and I loved getting to see my friend who was just in my wedding, get married at hers!

In between all of these weddings, Chris and my family found time to help me move the rest of my stuff out of my apartment in Jacksonville.
I had only been staying there occasionally in between classes, and now that I don't really have any big breaks between class I didn't need it anymore.

I have to say, I loved that apartment and I had lots of fun times there but I'm so glad that Christopher is the reason I moved home.

I guess this is cheating, because technically this was from this Friday which is in November.
But Chris and I drove up to Crossville, TN to the ZWT Ranch for their Fall sale.
We had a great time that wasn't diminished by the rain or cool temps.
The views were gorgeous, I could've stayed outside taking pictures all day.

We also went to the Alabama National Fair the last weekend in October, unfortunately it was raining and dark once we got there so we didn't get any pictures.
We saw Cole Swindell play (he's awesome by the way) and I have a few low-quality pictures from that, but they're on my phone still :)

Hope y'all enjoyed the update!

xoxo, Jordyn

#GoingToTheUpchurch

Today it occurred to me that lots of you might not read posts on my life+style blog The Southern Stylista so I realized I should probably post a wedding update over here!

On May 30, 2015 Christopher and I said, "I Do!" at South Wind Plantation in Wellington, Alabama surrounded by our friends and family.

I had so much fun getting ready with my girls, my sisters, and my mom-we laughed & made so many memories.

Every little touch that day was just beautiful, especially our flowers.

The day flew by, but the best part of it was marrying my very best friend.

He is truly my other-half & our day was full of memories that I wouldn't trade for anything.

I LOVE these family photos that Amy got, definitely frame worthy.

I mean, how cute is my fam?!

Our precious bridal party...

And one last kiss during our sparkler exit!

If you want to see our wedding highlight video, click right here, it was even more than I expected!

Old , New, Borrowed , Blue-Jordyn is Ready to Say "I Do!"

My final shower took place at our friend Angela Forbus' home, it is absolutely beautiful and of course the shower was no less than gorgeous!

My Mama and two sisters helped her host the shower and everything was wonderful.
I had such a good time getting to catch up with friends and family, I loved each and every one of my gifts, and I loved counting down the days to the wedding!

I'm going to share some of the pictures from that special day :)

Trystan did the chalk art for these two boards, they look so pretty!

Casey and Paige were so sweet to come and support me at all of my pre-wedding functions!

I loved getting to have my sweet friend Courtney at this shower!

So thankful to have this girl in my life!
Tess has been one of my "little sisters" for almost my entire life.
She has spent countless hours in the saddle with me & I'm so glad she gets to help serve at my wedding!

I loved seeing this sweet girl at my shower, Alayna is so precious & she keeps everyone around her smiling and laughing-which I need!

Mrs. Debbie & Grandmama were able to come and celebrate at this shower with us!

Here is a picture of me with all of my precious hostesses!

Mother/Daughters picture!

And my gorgeous hostess who was kind enough to share her home and her talents with us for the afternoon :)

My sweet fiance' came and helped us load up all of the presents and get them home.
I got him to stop for a minute and take a picture with me :)

Family picture with my sweet fiance', we're only missing Adam and the kiddos!

We had such a great time and I got so many special and wonderful gifts.
Most importantly, I got to celebrate with all of the people who I love the most!

Be on the lookout for more wedding updates as we get closer & closer to the big day. . .
only 25 days until we say, "I Do!"

Wedding Shower: Lineville Baptist Church

I don't normally blog on Sunday's, but today it's Talledega race-day so Chris is watching the race (aka sleeping on the couch) so I thought I would take advantage of the peace and quiet ;)

I want to share with y'all the pictures of the gorgeous bridal shower that Mrs. Debbie, all of the fabulous hostesses, and Lineville Baptist Church as a whole gave for Christopher and I.

The entire shower was beautiful & we are so thankful to have friends, family, and church family that care so much for us and that help us celebrate this special, exciting time in our lives!

My sweet Mama & I

I was so thankful to have both Julie & Trystan at this shower with me!

Casey was able to come & support us on this fun day!

Of course my precious Maid of Honor, Paige was there :)

These two sweet girls, Sadie and Lindsey are in the youth group at LBC and I just love them like my own little sisters.
They're going to help serve at our wedding & I'm so thankful to have them as part of our big day!

Gran was able to come to this shower & celebrate with us!

I am so blessed to have such a precious future mother-in-law!

Chris with Mrs. Debbie & Grandmama!

This is just a few of us gathered in the atrium around the gift tables, we had such a good time looking at all the presents, eating all the yummy food, and catching up with each other :)

Thanks to my sweet friend Stephanie for taking some of these pictures & helping us commemorate such a fun day!

Current countdown: 27 days & y'all, help me pray for good weather-I made the mistake of checking the long range forecast for the 30th and they're calling for thunderstorms!

Bridal Luncheon

I've been horrible about updating this blog because this Spring semester really took it's toll on my time.
Then, whatever spare time I had leftover I spent working on my other blog, The Southern Stylista.

I am so blessed to have had such wonderful friends and family who have given me a bridal luncheon and two wedding showers!
Although I've been busy, I didn't want to skip the opportunity to share some photos and some of the things that we got at these showers with y'all & I certainly didn't want to miss the opportunity to thank all of these fabulous people for everything they've done for me.

Bridal Luncheon: Hosted by Paige & Tina Simpkins
This luncheon was so much fun & a great way to kick off the wedding festivities!
The food Paige served was SO good & we just had a great time with everyone getting to know everyone else!

Us girls getting ready for the old fashioned cake-pull that Paige put together.
Such a fun tradition!

 Doing the cake pull!
I got a compass, which apparently means I'm going to have a life filled with travel...
shhh, no one tell Christopher!

So thankful to have sweet Gloria Wesson by my side on my big day!
She has been one of my best friends for so long & she's always someone I can count on to make me smile :)

My Matron of Honor, Paige is so precious to me!
Not only did she put together this gorgeous luncheon-but she is always there when I need to vent or when I need help doing random wedding stuff!

How lucky am I to have Casey Clark in my wedding, seriously?
She keeps me sane, is always willing to let me use her for her handwriting, and knows exactly what to say when I need a gossip sesh ;)

I never in a million years would've imagined that we would be getting married just a few weeks apart, but I'm so thankful that we both get to be apart of each others big days!
Love you to the moon & back, Katie Bain!

Gran and Grandma were able to join us for my luncheon and got to meet everyone else!
So thankful to have such wonderful ladies in my life, supporting me along the way.

These two are so special to me!
Grandmama and Mrs. Debbie aren't my in-laws or anything like that, they're just family.
I'm so blessed to have had them just take me in and treat me like an Upchurch from day one :)

 Sweet future Mama-in-Law

Trystan was unable to make it to my luncheon, but Julie and my Mama were able to come!
I don't have words for how thankful I am for all that they've done to make this wedding possible.

Mrs. Brenda, Alayna, Nean, and Mrs. Sandra were also able to join us & meet my family!
So thankful for them during such an exciting time :)

I was going to share pictures and stories from all three showers in one post...but I changed my mind when I realized how many pictures it was going to be!

I'll be updating soon with those other pictures & other updates!

Jordyn
